THIS is really two books in one: a tutorial and a reference manual for JDBC, the application programming interface that makes it possible for programmers to access databases from Java. The goal is to be useful to a wide range of readers, from database novices to database experts. Therefore, we have arranged the book so that information needed only by experts is separated out from the basic material. We hope that driver developers as well as application programmers and MIS administrators will find what they need. Because different sections are aimed at different audiences, we expect that few people will read every page. We have sometimes duplicated explanations in an effort to make reading easier for those who do not read all sections. This book will be most helpful to those who have some knowledge of the Java programming language and SQL (Structured Query Language), but one doesn t need to be an expert in either to understand the basic concepts presented here.

penMesh is a generic and efficient data structure for representing and manipulating polygonal meshes. The Joint Video Team (JVT) of ISO/IEC MPEG and ITU-T VCEG are finalising a new standard for the coding (compression) of natural video images. The new standard [1] will be known as H.264 and also MPEG-4 Part 10, “Advanced Video Coding”. The standard specifies two types of entropy coding: Context-based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding (CABAC) and Variable-Length Coding (VLC). This document provides a short introduction to CABAC. Familiarity with the concept of Arithmetic Coding is assumed.

Rao-Blackwellised Particle Filters (RBPFs) are a class of Particle Filters (PFs) that exploit conditional dependencies between parts of the state to estimate. By doing so, RBPFs can improve the estimation quality while also reducing the overall computational load in comparison to original PFs. However, the computational complexity is still too high for many real-time applications. In this paper, we propose a modified RBPF that requires a single Kalman Filter (KF) iteration per input sample. Comparative experiments show that while good convergence can still be obtained, computational efficiency is always drastically increased, making this algorithm an option to consider for real-time implementations.
