The Fuzzy Clustering and Data Analysis Toolbox is a collection of Matlab
functions. Its propose is to divide a given data set into subsets (called
clusters), hard and fuzzy Partitioning mean, that these transitions between
the subsets are crisp or gradual.
Homogeneous Partitioning of the Surveillance Volume discusses the
implementation of the first of three sequentially complementary approaches for
increasing the probability of target detection within at least some of the cells of
the surveillance volume for a spatially nonGaussian or Gaussian “noise”
environment that is temporally Gaussian. This approach, identified in the Preface
as Approach A, partitions the surveillance volume into homogeneous contiguous
subdivisions.
Current field forecast verification measures are inadequate, primarily because they compress the comparison
between two complex spatial field processes into one number. Discrete wavelet transforms (DWTs) applied to
analysis and contemporaneous forecast fields prove to be an insightful approach to verification problems. DWTs
allow both filtering and compact physically interpretable Partitioning of fields. These techniques are used to
reduce or eliminate noise in the verification process and develop multivariate measures of field forecasting
performance that are shown to improve upon existing verification procedures.
