Tiny Planet is small device connected to a GSM cell phone. When the mobile receives a predefined SMS (text message), like "Activate burglar alarm" or "Start backup pump", the circuit automatically recognizes it as a command, and switches the output port accordingly. Besides switching the port on or off, the user can pulse it for a short period (e.g. 鈥淩eboot remote server鈥?.
This is full set of procedures used to communicate with
any GSM module for SMS sending/receiving (it uses standard AT commands).
Original code is for ATMega162 microcontroller, but code is general to
be easy ported to others platforms.
Code can be compiled with IAR AVR compiler.
The Kannel Open Source WAP and SMS gateway works as both an SMS gateway, for implementing keyword based services via GSM text messages, and a WAP gateway, via UDP. The SMS part is fairly mature, the WAP part is early in its development. In this release, the GET request for WML pages and WMLScript files via HTTP works, including compilation for WML and WMLScript to binary forms. Only the data call bearer (UDP) is supported, not SMS.
