從人類進入二十一世紀以來，圖書館檢索系統功能的日趨完善，特別是現在高校內大學生計算機的擁有量飛速上升，互聯網絡改變著人們工作和生活的方式。但是也正是由于網絡的普及，致使網絡上的信息紛繁復雜，信息分類不規范等原因，在一定程度上使信息用戶在浩如煙海的信息海洋中不能迅速、準確地找到具有較高價值的信息。開發一個基于B/S結構的圖書公共檢索系統，使該系統實現在互聯網上的應用。
